What is gum disease?
- Periodontal disease is mainly caused by bacteria from plaque (a soft, sticky, colorless deposit that is continually forming on our teeth and gums) and tartar (hardened calcified form of plaque) buildup. This can also be caused by smoking, grinding your teeth, certain medications, and genetics. Gum disease or Gingivitis can be linked to stroke, heart disease, and other serious health issues.
